Qualification:

Teacher, Tutor and Coach

Experience:

I have 5 years experience as a certified teacher, tutor and coach. Over this time I have tutored in all subject areas Social Studies, English, Science, Math (Up to Algebra I). I have teaching certifications from the Sate of California in both English and Social Studies. I also took a two year course after receiving the certification which helped to refine my teaching approach to meet the needs of all students. I have also coached and run camps for both basketball and volleyball.

Approach:

I believe in a student centered approach to tutoring. This approach involves modifying my teaching strategies and goals depending on student need. To understand my student needs I focus on developing a relationship with children who I tutor. This enables me to design activities and examples that relate to the interest. I also believe in using assessments at the beginning and end of each lesson. These assessments enable me to monitor student improvement and set goals for the next lesson.
